Great for acne, use with foamer bottle, June 14, 2017

I was directed to use Hibiclens before a recent same-day surgery. It has a faintly medicinal smell and requires using a foamer bottle, but didn’t notice anything bad. After my procedure I had half a bottle left over, and throwing it out would have been wasteful. So, what else is a pre-surgical wash good for?

It’s actually good for a lot. My minor facial acne cleared up after less than a week’s use, and my usual summer foot rot disappeared as well. As this is a microbial, I wouldn’t recommend daily use unless you have a specific condition. Definitely give this a try if you’re prone to athlete’s foot or bad acne.

I have chronic skin issues as a diabetic, and use this stuff in all my bath products (including shampoo). I find mixing a little in (say, 5%), and shaking it up,, works quite well. I especially love it in my body wash and shampoo, because it doesn’t really affect the smell, appearance or performance. (If you add too much, however, it does tend to water things down and make it excessively foamy). You’ll also need to shake it before using, to keep it stirred up properly. It will make your skin ‘shed,’ however, so be prepared. This is an excellent skin cleaner that will help clear up things like staph in a jiffy. A gallon of this, if used this way, will last you a very very VERY long time. It’s well worth your time to buy a smaller container and give it a try for a month or so; if you like the results as much as I did, you will be quite pleased with this item.

A serious skin cleanser. Best to buy in volume like this, if you need a Hibiclens-like product., March 29, 2017

Hospitals, doctors’ officers, and nursing homes are bacteria-laden facilities and some of those germs are very bad. I now Hibiclens my hands upon returning home after every visit to such places. Hibiclens contains 4% w/v chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG), with inactive ingredients. After washing, CHG in Hibiclens bonds to the skin and continues to actively kill bacteria for up to 6 hours after use. It is effective on certain problematic bacteria. I needed this for healthcare reasons since pHisoHex is difficult to find. Hibiclens is kind of pricey, but if you need it, you need it. Amazon had a good price on it, though. I am happy with the purchase and will repurchase when my supply runs out. Also, in between “Hibiclenses,” I use a hand sanitizer containing >62% alcohol.
